Mabbett is an integrated planning, design, environment, engineering and safety consultancy established in 1996 in Glasgow. Since then, the firm has grown to employ 125 motivated engineers, scientists and supporting professionals across the UK. We have regional offices across the UK.
About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated and driven individual to join our team as a Civil Engineering Apprentice. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting our Principal Engineer in providing support with:
- Topographic surveys
- Percolation testing
- Setting-out
You will work from our Forres and/or Inverness office alongside experienced consultants and engineers and may be permitted to work from home on some occasions. In this instance, you will be provided with IT equipment and software/services required to facilitate your efficient home working. Travel is involved for which company pool cars are available and for which a valid driving licence will be required. Occasionally, travel by air will be required for which a valid passport is required. Occasional multi-day site visits will require overnight stays. Our clients are located worldwide but most of your work is likely to be in the UK for the foreseeable future.

Training
The successful candidate will be enrolled on to a Civil Engineering course at the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI). Mabbett will allow the candidate block release to undertake UHI education and will allow for an average of 0.5 days of personal study weekly. We would review UHI training on a year-to-year basis. The course is set up such that you can leave at the end of an academic year if preferred (year 1 with an HNC, year 2 an HND, year 3 a degree and year 4 with honours).
Qualifications
The candidate will be required to have qualifications that meet the UHI course entry requirements:
- You will require a full U.K. driving licence with a clean driver record.
