Woking & Sam Beare Hospice are pleased to announce the following position: Health Care Assistant – Band 2/3. Woking and Sam Beare Hospice In Patient Unit is looking for a passionate, dynamic, and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our incredible team.
Here at the hospice, we pride ourselves on giving exceptionally high standards of care to patients and their families through some of the most challenging times of their lives. Our charity-based service specializes in palliative and end of life care for patients with complex life limiting illnesses who live in the North-West Surrey area.
Some of the ways we provide such high standards is through fantastic staff-to-patient ratios that leave our patients and families feeling like they are always a priority. Additionally, our environment is clean, warm, and homely to ensure all who come through our services feel safe and comfortable.
We have a keen focus on education and development. Our education team supports excellent training sessions taught by our in-house experts. Furthermore, our staff are encouraged and supported to increase their professional skills through courses and university modules. Recent examples of our commitment to developing our team include:
- NA to RN apprenticeships
- HCA to NA apprenticeships
- CNS supported and developed to join our medical team as a Non-Medical Prescriber/ANP
- Staff Nurse to Senior Staff Nurse
- Senior Staff Nurse into Clinical Nurse Specialist positions in our community team.
A successful Health Care Assistant will be:
- Caring and compassionate
- Willing to develop their knowledge and skills
- Experience of palliative care is desirable but not essential as we can offer support through our training and development programme
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A successful candidate will have:
- Willingness to work towards Care Certificate or NVQ 3 (QCF Level 3 or equivalent)
- Experience of caring for patients in a health or social care setting
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. This role is Band 2-3 depending on experience and qualification. All successful candidates employed into band 2 are encouraged to complete the Care Certificate which would offer the opportunity to develop into the Band 3 role.
