UC Health is hiring a PRN Cardiac Sonographer for the vascular lab for first shift at West Chester Hospital. The Cardiac Sonographer will support West Chester Hospital's Echo/Vascular Lab by delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures. The role of the Cardiac Sonographer is to perform echocardiographic diagnostic procedures with the ability to utilize a variety of equipment to determine accurate assessment of cardiac function, anatomy, and physiology flow parameters in multiple patient care areas.

Responsibilities:
- Engages in population appropriate communication.
- Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
- Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
- Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
- Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
- Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
- Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
- Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
- Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
- Perform 2D, Adult Congenital, 3D, AFI (automated frequency imaging), Dyssynchrony, Dobutamine, Bicycle and Treadmill Stress echocardiograms, Transesophageal, and 3D Transesophageal.
- Conduct studies of consistently high quality utilizing special skills according to established protocols.
- Delineate and record abnormalities and make appropriate changes in technique as required by specific patient care needs.
- Participation in research studies.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Utilize Epic scheduling/patient data charting software, organize daily schedule, Tele-Tracking/patient transportation, clarify orders when necessary, follows hospital policy for reporting critical results.
- Comply with all department policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate compliance with all requirements for safety, infection control, and disaster plan.
- Serve as an expert role model in providing quality patient care for internal and external customers with appropriate test/indications selection.
- Provide one-on-one training to student technologists, cardiology fellows, and other staff physicians.
- Knowledge of Merge Cardio operations, local functions and systems function.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a two-year Allied Health degree and successful completion of a 12 month CAAHEP approved School of Ultrasound Technology, or Cardiovascular Technology, or equivalent education.
- Work requires sufficient education/training to acquire American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification in cardiac ultrasound, Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
- ARDMS/CCI Certification within twelve months of employment.
- Required clinical hours to become registry eligible.
- Must be knowledgeable and demonstrate competency on current practice of echocardiography: cognitive, technical, interpersonal and communication skills necessary for the performance of adult, geriatric, adolescent echocardiography.
Expected starting salary range for this position is between $31.63/hr. - $39.11/hr. The actual pay rate for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and other requirements for the position.
