Walter C. Parson Funeral Directors is a family business established in 1842 which has remained in the family for seven generations. We strive to deliver a first-class service, one which would only be acceptable to a member of our own family.
To strengthen our team, we are seeking individuals to join our team of Driver/Bearers. The roles will be primarily based at our Newton Abbot office but may also cover Funerals across Torquay, Exeter and the wider Devon and South East Cornwall area. Due to the nature of our work, we need a team that is flexible in working hours and location. This role is being offered on a casual basis with greater demand at certain times of the year. The position will provide a great opportunity to explore a new career in Funeral Services or may suit someone looking for a few hours with no guaranteed commitment or additional hours to supplement another income.
The successful applicant will be required to join our Out of Hours Removal Rota, which enables us to bring deceased people into our care 24 hours a day. Please note that whilst mechanical means are used as much as possible, there are occasions where lifting and carrying heavy weights are part of the role. Manual handling training is provided, and the company takes their responsibility seriously; however, applicants must be able to carry out the full duties of the role.
Our ideal person will be well presented, have excellent customer service, good manners, and won’t mind being outside in all weathers. A full clean driving licence is also a must, and living within Exeter, Newton Abbot, Torquay or the surrounding areas would be preferable.
