PHOTONICS TECHNICIAN OPERATOR (PTO) – AEROSPACE AND DEFENSE

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The oversight is permitted by the MISSION INTELLIGENCE DIVISION and requires support for optical library deployment (an index of optical files for code server installation) for MISSION-CRITICAL EMBEDDED SOFTWARE and measurement devices, training, and support. This role involves expanding multi-physics capabilities such as optical systems optimization and validation interlocking optical mechanical simulation. Areas to cover will include:
- Combining correct optical properties of all materials and light sources with physical ray tracing of light for accurate representation.
- Performing light output analysis, photometry, colorimetry, and evaluating the optical library based on optical properties and light sources.
- Evaluating the thermal impact on optical performance, sensor heat from light sources, and conducting thermal simulations.
- Simulating lighting systems performance in the visible light range and evaluating photometric and colorimeter magnitude.
- Conducting advanced analyses of the performance and appearance of lighting systems.
- Validating systems against design requirements and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Facilitating communication between product development teams.
- Conducting optical sensor tests and simulating sensor vision.
- Generating geometry for light guides, optical lenses, and surfaces.
OUR KEY OBJECTIVES:
- Model lighting system performance and conduct colorimetry and photometry studies.
- Explore light propagation to improve lighting systems performance.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and requirements.
- Conduct tolerance studies of optomechanical systems.
- Determine optimal mechanical and optical design parameters.
- Shorten engineering development by increasing efficiency.
- Validate material choices through colorimetry measurements.
- Conduct advanced analytics for photometry, radiometry, and illuminance.
ENVIRONMENT: This position operates within the regulatory engineering division of the MULTIDOMAIN DEFENCE DOCK.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the UK. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- ETA Certification Maintenance/STEM
- PSE (Professional Simulation Engineering) Certification
- Photonics Technician Operator (PTO) Certification is essential.
- Optical Instrument Design Certification is essential.
- Certified Authorization Professional (CAP)
- Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Information Assurance System Architecture and Engineer (IASAE)
- Must hold one of the listed DoD 8570 Certifications.
