Building an OS for the advertising & media industry

MediaCycle is building the OS for media buying — a platform designed to streamline how media agencies and marketers plan, buy, and optimise media across channels. We’re early-stage but in motion: prototyping is underway, and we\’re already in conversations with two independent media agencies for pilot testing. Our ambition is bold — to transform a $1trillion industry still plagued by spreadsheets, fragmented tools, and inefficiencies.

I am looking for a founding CTO to help shape the product and company from the ground up. This is an equity-only role at the outset, ideal for someone who wants to build a meaningful, category-defining product and is ready to bet on themselves.

The Role:

As CTO and Co-founder, you will lead the technical vision and development of MediaCycle. You’ll work closely with the founder (with deep domain expertise) to validate the MVP, translate media agency pain points into scalable software, and lay the foundation for a high-performance, modular tech stack. This is a rare opportunity to influence product, culture, and strategy from day one.

Responsibilities:

• Define the technical architecture of the MVP and future platform
• Build the initial product, focusing on speed, scalability, and UX
• Contribute to product strategy, roadmap, and core feature development
• Collaborate with design, early agency partners, and other stakeholders to iterate fast
• Establish engineering best practices and culture as we grow
• Participate in fundraising, pitches, and investor conversations
• Make key decisions on in-house vs. outsourced development
• Build and manage a small, high-quality technical team as we scale

You Might Be a Fit If You:

• UK Based applicants only
• Have experience as a lead engineer or CTO in an early-stage SaaS startup
• Are execution focused – we are at the point where we need to build
• Know how to build and ship full-stack applications quickly and cleanly
• Can translate complex business problems into elegant software solutions
• Have a pragmatic mindset — balancing shipping fast with building right
• Are fluent in modern web technologies (e.g. React, Node.js, TypeScript, etc.) and cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, or similar)
• Are comfortable with data — integrations, visualisation, analytics pipelines, etc.
• Have an interest in martech, adtech, media, or B2B tools (not essential but a plus)
• Are entrepreneurial, proactive, and ready to roll your sleeves up

Compensation:

• Equity only (founding equity negotiable depending on experience and contribution)
• No salary until funding — ideal for someone with financial runway or moonlighting flexibility
