We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Grade 4 Business Support Officer in the Active Reablement Team at Fellows Court in Croydon; providing business support to the Active Reablement and A&E Liaison Service dealing with hospital discharges and reablement support services. We are seeking to recruit one skilled and experienced business support officer who has knowledge and experience to provide support to the service dealing with vulnerable adults who have been discharged from hospital and their families. This post is an essential role within the Active Reablement and A&E Liaison Service which relies heavily on admin support to manage the workflow into and out of the team. This will be a demanding but equally rewarding position, in not only providing support to the Active Reablement Team but also direct telephone contact with customers and care providers to help resolve and guide on related issues.

The role:

  • Managing rotas for both Active Reablement & A&E Liaison Service.
  • Managing both services inbox by processing a high volume of emails and coordinating communication with all professionals within the service i.e. social care staff, Health Therapy staff, Brokerage and care providers, and hospital staff.
  • Ensuring all information held is accurate and all relevant databases are maintained.
  • Processing daily emails and phone calls with tight deadlines.
  • Providing first point of contact to customers giving advice and guidance with support from social care duty workers and managers.
  • Working closely with the Active Reablement Team Manager to obtain information from health systems and update this information on the Council’s Adult Social Care case management system.

You must have:

  • A thorough understanding of working in a business support environment.
  • Knowledge of administration systems and procedures.
  • Experience and competence using IT systems and common business support systems in particular Excel spreadsheets.
  • Skills in using databases – particularly Liquid Logic (also known as LAS).
  • Knowledge of NHS systems e.g. Cerner and EMIS would be an advantage.
  • The ability to advise customers and respond sensitively and appropriately to all contacts and enquiries over the phone and via emails.
  • A high attention to detail and confidentiality in dealing with vulnerable customers and distributing sensitive information.
  • Excellent organisation and prioritising skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a very busy work environment.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload in relation to a large team to meet deadlines in a fast-changing environment.
  • Ability to work in a large complex, political organisation and to understand and operate within national and local frameworks of accountability.
  • Commitment to and application of equality and diversity in service delivery.
  • Demonstrates high standard of ethical and personal conduct.
  • Good Numeracy and English Literacy skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in order to represent the work area and deal with customers.
  • Ability to provide administrative and organisational support.
