The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.

The role of a Back-Roads Touring Tour Leader involves the day-to-day running of the tours on the road. This includes:

  • Giving in-depth commentary relevant to the destination, the route, the experiences, the local life and everything you see along the way;
  • Managing all tour related paperwork and expenditure and completing the relevant accounting and administrative paperwork;
  • Leading all group activities and socialising with the group;
  • Interacting with various suppliers on a daily basis;
  • Looking after the group safety and enjoyment and being the first point of contact in case of incidents or crisis.

It is a big responsibility as you are directly responsible for the successful operation of the tour.

Our Tour Leaders are at the heart of our product and personify what we want to achieve as a business. We look for individuals who:

  • Have an in-depth local knowledge of the place where you would lead tours and a genuine interest and passion for our destinations;
  • Make safety a priority on a daily basis;
  • Are highly organised with the ability to plan ahead;
  • Possess extremely developed problem solving skills;
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude and behaviour at all times;
  • Possess a high level of customer service and great people skills;
  • Have the ability to manage customer expectations;
  • Have the ability to speak the local language is HIGHLY recommended, though fluency is not always required.

We will consider all applicants, especially those with previous experience as a Tour Leader or any relevant experiences or skills that can be transferable to what we expect from our Tour Leaders on the road.

To apply to work with Back-Roads Touring, you must be eligible to work in the destinations we visit. This may include:

  • A UK and/or European Passport;
  • UK Right of Abode/Residency; or
  • UK Ancestry or other Working Visa.

This season, we are only recruiting experienced Tour Leaders. To apply, you must have availability in May and September (which are our busiest months).
