About The Role

Wiltshire Police seeks a passionate and eager analytical mind to join the Wiltshire Intelligence Development Team as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst. This civilian role involves engaging in tactical and strategic policing efforts to keep people safe and bring criminals to justice across Wiltshire. You will contribute to protecting vulnerable community members and making a difference.

The intelligence team constructs a comprehensive picture of criminality and community issues, offering you opportunities to develop your skills and participate in investigations. You will review intelligence to identify patterns and trends, develop hypotheses, and make recommendations to address issues. The workload is dynamic and evolving. Your reports will guide decision-making at all levels of policing, from community officer activities to long-term planning and resource allocation. Analyst products may also be used in court to support law enforcement and criminal justice efforts.

No prior policing experience is required; however, experience in operational, tactical, or strategic analysis is essential. This role provides a pathway to acquire a complex, transferable skillset suitable for various roles within criminal justice and beyond, with ongoing training and development opportunities.

The team is diverse, and we encourage all enthusiastic, open-minded individuals with a knack for innovative problem-solving to apply. Effective communication skills are crucial, as you will present your findings verbally and in reports. Active discussion and information sharing are valued to enhance understanding.

The role requires motivation, the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, and the capacity to analyze large data sets quickly and accurately. Familiarity with statistics, problem-solving, and analytical tools is highly desirable. You will have access to various software, including Microsoft Office and specialized visual and geographical analysis tools, and training will be provided.

Applicants should ideally hold a full driving license or be willing to travel for work. Maintaining confidentiality and discretion is essential. Successful candidates will undergo security vetting.
