An exciting opportunity has arisen for a head gardener to work on a lovely private garden near Rugby. The 5-acre garden is part of a 41-acre estate and has recently undergone a full redesign by a well-known garden designer. The garden features hedging, topiary, perennial borders, a meadow, old oak trees, water features, a vegetable garden with greenhouse, and formal lawns.
The ideal candidate should possess sufficient horticultural knowledge, a passion for gardening, and demonstrable experience managing large estates. Horticultural qualifications and industry-related tickets would be advantageous. Experience in growing produce in a kitchen garden is also desirable.
The candidate must have a keen eye for detail, a proactive attitude, and the ability to manage their own time and oversee others. You will be caring for the garden alongside a part-time assistant, covering all aspects of maintenance, stock management, plant ordering, and bed adjustments as needed.
