We are seeking a Part-Time Academy Doctor on a consulting basis to provide weekend matchday medical cover and evening clinics at our Hale End training complex, mainly working with our U9-U16 age groups. The role aims to optimize player availability, enhance physical performance, and reduce injury risk.
Your day-to-day:
- Provide matchday medical cover - deliver medical support during weekend home matches for U9-U16 teams, including checking pitch-side emergency equipment and completing checklists for operational purposes.
- Support evening clinics - assist with evening clinics as requested by the Lead Academy Physiotherapist for U9-U16.
- Communicate critical information - share injury updates and medical issues with the Academy Medical team during match days.
- Support tours - provide medical coverage for youth tours and tournaments within the UK and internationally, when required.
- Maintain standards - accurately record medical notes in our electronic records system and develop medical policies for our Academy players.
- Collaborate with the team - participate in CPD activities and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Focus on player development - contribute medical insights into player profiles and progress reports, considering injury history and health.
- Uphold our values - exemplify club values and contribute to the success of the Medical and Performance departments.
- Ensure safety and inclusivity - follow policies on safeguarding, health and safety, and equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Act as a club ambassador - maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in line with policies and legal standards.
What we are looking for:
- Credible expertise - registered with the GMC, with ongoing appraisal and revalidation, and appropriate medical indemnity insurance.
- Qualified in Sports Medicine - MSc/Diploma in Sports Medicine and Level 5 FA ATMMiF trauma qualification.
- Experience in elite sport - proven experience working within elite senior and adolescent sports environments.
- Clinical reasoning skills - adept at managing adolescent sports injuries and experienced in general practice.
- CPD evidence - demonstrates ongoing professional development in your specialty.
- Excellent communication skills - able to build relationships, collaborate effectively, and demonstrate humility, discipline, and respect.
- Forward-thinking approach - proactive, flexible, growth mindset, and receptive to feedback.
