Job title: Electrical Design Engineer Reference: E113851 Location: St Helens Duration : Contract – 6 Months Pay rate: £50 – £60 per hour outside of IR35 Experienced Electrical Design Engineer required on a 6 month contract for a prestigious turnkey customer, based in St Helens. You will produce electrical design, engineer and develop Power Generating facilities including Energy Storage, Hydrogen, Solar, Wind, Microgrids, Gas-Powered Generation (Advanced Gas, Biogas, Natural Gas) and CHP plants. Providing input and support at all stages of a project from sales through to installation. You will spend your time translating and developing conceptual designs into designs to meet the functional and contractual specifications of secured orders . Responsibilities. Translate and develop conceptual designs into designs to meet the functional and contractual specifications of secured orders, drawing out specifications, calculations and component selection. Carrying out Power System Studies including Load Flows, Fault Analysis, Protection Studies, P28 Voltage Flicker, G5/5 Harmonic Assessments, G99 Reactive Power and Frequency Response Simulations. Support and assist in the sales stage of a project by taking responsibility for ensuring that conceptual design and tender preparation documents are provided to meet the timescales and quality standards required for presentation to the customer/potential customer. Liaise with Mechanical Design Engineer in identifying the project requirements and on the development of the detailed design. Liaise with a CAD team, coordinating and leading activity in order to ensure that the design packages are produced to the required timescales and standards of quality. Provide support to the Project Manager during the installation commissioning and testing phase of the project, ensuring the timely production of all necessary documentation. Liaise as necessary with existing and potential customers and their representatives. Participate, and where appropriate lead, HAZOP and risk assessment studies. Ensure that there is full adherence to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management policies and procedures in all work undertaken. Required knowledge and skills Good IT skills- Microsoft Office. Proficient in Power Systems Analysis Tools/Software. Project management. Knowledge of AutoCAD draughting package Essential Degree in Electrical Engineering (HNC/HND if supported by substantial relevant experience) Experience of working in an associated industry with a background in power generation (between 1-25MW) Knowledge of low and of medium voltage power trains and associated control and instrumentation. Good IT Skills -MS Office Full UK/EU Driving License Eligible to work in the UK Desirable Professional registration. Experience in CHP and power generation Knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD draughting package or similar. Knowledge of ETAP power analysis software.
