Are you a Senior Manufacturing Engineer interested in working with an SME that is a niche manufacturer of crewed and uncrewed aircraft, seeking to build their Manufacturing Team to develop new products and systems supporting ongoing demands within the defence industry, based out of Salisbury?
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will support new R&D projects involving innovative materials, processes, manufacturing systems, and equipment. A background in NPI, NPD, Industrialisation, and/or product launch would be a distinct advantage.
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer Will Be Responsible For:
- Implementation of manufacturing process selection and control during the R&D phase of new product introduction, including manufacturing plans and SOPs.
- Developing and managing BOMs aligned with the latest release of eBoM to ensure all aircraft parts or key assemblies are identified and managed throughout the product lifecycle.
- Interpreting engineering drawings to create or amend work instructions, identifying processes, tooling, and equipment to maintain delivery and quality standards.
- Leading the process of New Product Introduction to support the launch of new products or modifications into production.
- Managing Non-Conformance (NC) issues in products or processes, including data gathering, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
- Driving the Change Management process, planning, developing, and executing engineering changes, and leading continuous improvement activities.
- Identifying needs for new equipment and submitting CAPEX requests.
- Creating production plans and shop layouts for new projects or requirements.
- Managing technical issues related to manufacturing operations, including processes, equipment, and materials.
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer Should Possess The Following:
- Strong experience in Manufacturing Engineering or as a Lead Technician, ideally within aerospace or high-performance engineering environments.
- Exposure to NPI, NPD, Product Launch, and Industrialisation to support new product development.
- Experience in creating and managing eBoM and mBoM.
- Ability to create work instructions from engineering data.
- Proficiency with CAD and PLM platforms.
- Experience with NPI, APQP, and PFMEA processes.
- Continuous Improvement expertise, with exposure to Six Sigma, 8D, etc.
To support this role, you must be able to obtain security clearances (SC) and be willing to travel nationally and internationally as required. Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are essential.
