Morson are looking to recruit slingers on behalf of our client in Portsmouth. These are a 6 month contract. Role description: Candidates must have marine/heavy industry background. Personnel must have a deep understanding of lifting operations and be able to carry out the various techniques used in ship repair and support industry. What you will be doing: Ensure safe systems of work are carried out at all times. Read/Interpret drawings for lifting operations. Undertake Intermediate and Complex lifting evolutions across all classes of RN vessels. Assess the weights of loads, centre of gravity. Working to relevant lift plan, as required. Ensure compliances to all policies, procedures and standard operating practices. Skills: Good understanding of LOLER and PUWER Regs and BS 7121. Understanding the de-rating of lifting accessories depending on geometry and mode of use. Understanding roles of a Slinger, Appointed Person and Lift Supervisor. Knowledge of crane hand signals and be able to use radios. Understanding of using various types of cranes. Shifts can vary: Standard – Locals: £19.40 PAYE Non locals: £27.40 PAYE (Umbrella rates also available) Nights – Locals: £25.22 PAYE Non locals: £33.22 PAYE (Umbrella rates also available) Full rate card available on request These are immediate starts subject to security clearance.
