Support Worker – Learning Disabilities Service

£11.50 up to £11.80, paid training, full-time or part-time

We are currently seeking a dedicated and empathetic Support Worker to join our dynamic team within the healthcare sector. As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care and support to individuals with learning disabilities, enabling them to lead fulfilling and independent lives.

Where you will work: Shakespeare House:

Shakespeare House is a specialist supported living service which has been developed to enable people with learning disabilities, including those with autism, physical disabilities and complex needs to live happy, healthy, safe lives and to achieve their full potential. This service aims to deliver individually designed care and support to enable people to lead independent, meaningful lives as active members of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering person-centred care and support to individuals with learning disabilities, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
  • Assisting individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication administration.
  • Promoting independence and empowering individuals to develop essential life skills.
  • Building strong relationships with service users, their families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care.
  • Supporting individuals in accessing educational, vocational, and recreational activities within the community.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of care plans and progress reports.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with learning disabilities is highly desirable.
  • A compassionate and patient nature, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • A genuine passion for improving the lives of individuals with learning disabilities.

  • A Salary increase to £11.65 once you have completed our paid-for-care certificate (An industry-recognised qualification)
  • A Salary increase to £11.80 on completion of a paid-for Level 2-3 NVQ qualification (An industry-recognised qualification)
