Our client operates within the professional services environment and has a permanent, full-time vacancy for a Finance Apprentice to join their close-knit, friendly accounts team. This role is office-based but the company understands that flexibility is essential for a good work-life balance. The successful applicant will receive practical, hands-on experience from day one, working on a wide variety of tasks to help build the necessary skills, whilst spending one day a week at college studying for a qualification.
The firm’s Accounts department works to provide an efficient accounting service to all the firm’s users and clients. Some of the duties will include:
- Assisting with reconciliation of the firm’s bank accounts on a daily basis;
- Assisting with incoming monies via Internet Banking; ensuring funds are investigated and allocated promptly in accordance with the Firm’s policies;
- Assisting with payments out of the firm’s accounts by either electronic payment or cheque payment, in accordance with the firm’s policies, and in line with the SARs;
- Checking and processing bills;
- Assisting with checking client balances and working with fee earners to clear following completion, ensuring balances are returned promptly;
- Transferring costs and disbursements;
- Liaising with clients by phone to take card payments;
- Providing support to fee-earners/secretaries on all financial matters and assisting with queries as they arise either by email, phone or Zoom;
- Reporting any breaches promptly to the Senior Accounts Manager and ensuring they are remedied upon discovery;
- Ensuring all incoming cheques received are logged and postings requested where required;
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties, as requested.

The course: You will work towards your Accounting AAT certificate level 2 at City College Norwich which is a one-year course that covers Introduction to Bookkeeping, Principles of Costing, Principles of Bookkeeping Controls, and The Business Environment.
