Support, Time & Recovery Worker

Support, Time & Recovery workers (ST&R) are required as part of the exciting new Integrated Non-Custodial Services (INCS) contract, which has been awarded to DPT for the next seven years starting in April 2025.

The INCS contract integrates Criminal Justice, Liaison & Diversion, Reconnect, and the Mental Health Treatment Requirement (MHTRs) to deliver comprehensive care and support for individuals, addressing their healthcare needs and offending behavior from custody diversion to community reintegration.

Reconnect provides post-custody support aimed at improving continuity of care for individuals with health needs, including mental health, learning disabilities, substance misuse, physical health, neurodivergent needs, and other psychosocial vulnerabilities. It supports their transition to community-based services through liaison, advocacy, signposting, and support.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking 2 x ST&R workers, one to work in Cornwall and another to cover North Devon. Your role will involve supporting offenders upon release, assessing their needs in prison, and collaboratively developing a care plan. Support can extend up to 6 months post-release, depending on individual needs.

Close multi-agency collaboration is essential, involving prison teams, health services, substance misuse services, community healthcare providers, probation, and housing organizations.

Person Specification

Experience

• Extensive experience working with individuals with complex co-morbidities and vulnerabilities, such as mental health, learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, offending behaviors, substance misuse, homelessness, debt, etc.
• Experience engaging with challenging or vulnerable individuals, including those exhibiting risk behaviors like self-harm.
• Experience working within community settings in either statutory or voluntary sectors.
• Ability to assess and manage risk effectively.
• Experience working independently with service users.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environments.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mental health and/or social care practice, acquired through NVQ Level 3, diploma-level training, relevant courses, or work-based experience.
• Willingness to obtain the Care Certificate within the first 3 months of employment.
• Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
