A global manufacturer and distributor in the wholesale building materials sector is seeking a high-impact International Supply Chain and Operations Director to lead its growing international operations. Headquartered near Horsham, with major hubs across the USA, Australia, Singapore, Dubai, Poland, and Germany, the company has experienced significant growth and is continuing to do so. This is a fast-paced, lean, and dynamic environment undergoing a digital transformation, offering international exposure, regular global travel, and autonomy to make strategic and operational decisions.

You will be part of a supportive and stable leadership team, spearheading initiatives to drive efficiency, improve service levels, and deliver results across the global supply chain network.

The International Supply Chain and Operations Director will be responsible for:

  • Leading and overseeing all international supply chain, logistics, operations, procurement, and customer service functions.
  • Driving operational strategy and execution across multiple regions with a team of 50+ staff, including 7 direct reports and regional leadership in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
  • Managing relationships with 3PL providers, freight partners, and vendors to ensure cost-effective and timely distribution of product lines.
  • Overseeing the successful migration from a homegrown platform to Microsoft Dynamics 365, ensuring system readiness, data integrity, and team adoption.
  • Championing continuous improvement and lean principles across global operations, with a strong focus on productivity, standardisation, and cost control.
  • Leading strategic planning and execution for warehousing, inventory, and fulfillment across air and sea freight channels.
  • Acting as a key liaison between the operational teams and senior leadership, delivering performance reports, KPIs, and business updates.
  • Developing and implementing global inventory management strategies to balance working capital efficiency with customer service excellence.
  • Leading cost-reduction initiatives through vendor negotiation, route optimization, and process automation.
  • Supporting and mentoring supply chain leaders across regions to strengthen capabilities and ensure alignment with business goals.

The International Supply Chain and Operations Director should have the following qualifications:

  • Proven track record in senior supply chain and operations leadership roles within a global manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Background in logistics management, international freight, procurement, and customer service operations.
  • Understanding of lean methodologies and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Previous experience with ERP transformations is ideal, preferably with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Comfortable leading cross-functional and multicultural teams across various time zones.
  • Experience managing change, scaling operations, and establishing robust processes during periods of rapid growth.
