We are seeking to recruit a Prison Support Worker to work for a charity based within a prison in York, supporting male offenders who are in recovery from substance or alcohol misuse.
Details:
- Permanent, full-time position
- Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 per annum
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
- Extensive induction and training provided, including key holder safety procedures
Requirements:
- Experience working with substance misuse, addiction, or recovery
- Experience of the criminal justice system and/or offenders
- Driving license and vehicle (due to prison location)
- High resilience to stress
- Available to start within 4 weeks
Responsibilities:
- Providing support and advocacy to inmates
- Offering advice and guidance on available resources
- Completing substance misuse risk assessments and support plans
- Delivering 1:1 and group sessions
- Building positive and effective relationships through good communication
- Collaborating closely with prison staff and substance misuse services
