We have a great opportunity for a Street Lighting Electrician to work on a street lighting contract, specialising in the maintenance, installation, and repair of street lighting across various locations in the North East.
Job Overview:
Street Lighting Maintenance Operative to work on the Redcar & Cleveland PFI Contract, primarily based in the Redcar area. The role involves the maintenance and repair of street lighting assets and may include installation work on various housing developments across the North East, as required.
We are a small, close-knit team, and are looking for someone who is flexible, reliable, and willing to support a range of tasks to help the team deliver high-quality work across all aspects of street lighting maintenance and installation.
Key activities:
- Routine and reactive maintenance of street lighting within Redcar & Cleveland.
- Installation of new lighting columns and associated equipment.
- Painting of lighting columns.
- Cleaning of bollards and other street furniture.
- Carrying out visual checks and inspections.
- Replacing LED lanterns and other components.
- Completion of inspection reports and maintenance records within MUSE.
- Operating a MEWP.
- Responding to emergency call-outs as required.
- Supporting street lighting installations on new-build housing developments across the region.
- Installing and replacing lighting columns.
- Painting and cleaning lighting infrastructure.
- Conducting visual inspections and reporting defects.
- Carrying out small-scale civil works including hand-digging holes, trenching, pulling cables, and excavating joint bays for electrical connections.
- Ensuring sites are left tidy and safe after works.
Note: Civil works are part of the role, and the successful candidate must be willing and physically able to carry out manual tasks as required.
Qualifications and experience include:
- Experience in street lighting, highways electrical work, or a related field.
- G39 Certification (Working in the vicinity of DNO/IDNO equipment).
- Full UK driving licence (C1+E category desirable).
- Good awareness of health and safety.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong team ethic, with a flexible and proactive approach to work.
