We are partnering with our client, Shell, to recruit a skilled Retail Space Planner to join their retail team in London on a full-time contract basis. The role involves ensuring optimal use of micro & macro space and conducting robust assessments of sales per linear meter across the UK network of service stations.
Role Overview
- Utilise space planning software to deliver the most efficient and effective implementation of the CR UK proposition.
- Ensure optimal use of micro and macro space; undertake robust assessments of sales per linear metre metrics across the Shell network for assigned categories and/or formats.
- Create and maintain micro space planograms in line with the annual range review calendar, working closely with Category Managers to augment CR revenue in line with T&R Targets.
- Ensure assortment optimisation across categories; review data metrics for each product, category, and fixture size to maximise sales, margin, and profit performance.
- Present recommendations for new space allocations or equipment solutions to drive incremental sales and margin growth.
- Provide month-to-month planogram support to maximise sales from seasonal, NPD, and promotional features.
- Act as custodian of category space to ensure compliance with licensing or age-related product regulations and guidelines.
- Undertake demographic profiling & clustering solution modules.
- Maintain a proactive awareness of market trends, consumer needs, and shopper missions to ensure a customer-centric approach.
- Maintain a product and image database in support of the software system.
- Establish cross-functional relationships across Category Management, Supply Chain, Sales, and Network teams.
Skills & Qualifications
- Solid experience in micro and macro space planning within retail or FMCG sectors.
- Expert knowledge of JDA / INTACTIX / Spaceman / Omniscope software, AutoCAD, Macromedia Flash, CKB Planogram Generator, and core MI tools (Excel, Business Objects, Power BI).
- Strong analytical skills with a consumer-led mindset.
- Commercial acumen with understanding of sales, margin, profitability metrics, and performance per linear metre.
- Flexibility to attend service station reviews across the UK as required.
