About the role
As a UX Lead at Boots, you\’ll lead the UX for your product area(s) to support delivering Boots\’ digital roadmap to create the digital future of Boots.
- Lead the UX for your area(s): You\’ll lead a squad(s) of multidisciplinary UX team members through our User Centred Design process. Responsible for leading all UX activities from discovery to delivery, spanning all UX disciplines. Utilising expertise from Centers of Excellence (CoEs) where necessary (e.g., accessibility, content design, service design). Working closely and cross-functionally with partners in Product, IT, Optimisation, and Digital Experience (DX).
- UX backlog contributor: Involved in driving the UX strategy for your area(s). Utilising user insights to continuously improve the user experience and help deliver our long-term strategy. Partnering with Product Managers to contribute to the product vision and backlog, advocating for users\’ needs and goals.
- Quality & Coherency: Responsible for your squad(s) delivering quality UX artefacts during the agile development cycle. Ensuring UX research and design balance user needs, business goals, technical feasibility, and accessibility compliance. Considering the holistic user experience and interactions with different product areas. Working within our User Centred Design (UCD) process, design system, and brand style guides, challenging and evolving them when appropriate.
- Active member of the UX leadership team: Co-evolve our ways of working to create efficiencies and job satisfaction. Promote team building and communication. Provide leadership, coaching, and development to junior and middleweight team members, empowering them to develop their skills. Taking on line management responsibility of 1-3 direct reports.
- Project Initiation: Upon receiving a project, expand the brief, define the UX approach based on UCD, scope, and create a project plan with tasks, estimates, and resources.
- Direction: Oversee and provide clear UX direction during research and design stages. Take accountability for UX delivery, balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints using stakeholder relationships and team leadership skills.
- Problem definition: Ensure the problem space and scope are clearly defined before ideation. Consolidate insights from research into problem statements to be addressed in design.
About You
- 5-8 years experience in a UX role with a supporting portfolio or case studies.
- Strong UX skill set and experience across the UCD process. Specialism in areas like user research, product design, content design, service design, or accessibility is beneficial.
- In-depth knowledge of UCD principles and best practices. Skilled in research and insights to understand user needs and improve designs.
- Experience designing for accessibility to WCAG Level AA.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of storytelling, pitching, and influencing at all organisational levels.
- People leadership experience, including coaching or mentoring. Line management experience is beneficial.
- Stakeholder management skills to engage cross-functional teams and co-create user-centred solutions.
- Project management experience, including planning, estimating, resource management, and delivery within scope and quality standards.
- Familiarity with Agile and lean UX methodologies is advantageous.
- Degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field is beneficial.
