Job Description:

We are currently looking for a Principal Scientist with expertise in cell line construction to join a leading Biopharmaceutical company based in the United Kingdom.

The Role:

• Provide leadership to Process Development in the development of cell lines for the manufacture of therapeutic proteins.
• Ensure the department achieves recognition as a centre of scientific excellence internationally.
• Provide strong scientific and technical leadership in identifying, evaluating, and championing new technologies for cell line development, while maintaining and improving established technologies.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert in cell culture, cell line selection, and development.
• Design and lead multi-disciplinary project teams to meet client objectives.
• Communicate project progress through verbal presentations and written reports to internal teams and clients.
• Recognize emerging issues and initiate escalation, forming and managing multidisciplinary teams to resolve problems.
• Identify emerging trends impacting project delivery and business growth.
• Maintain high standards of science and quality in customer and technology development projects.
• Develop and mentor junior scientists within Process Development.
• Contribute to the efficient operation of the department.

Requirements:

• BSc in Life Sciences (e.g., Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology).
• Significant postgraduate experience in the biotech/pharma industry.
• Proven track record in process development focusing on cell line development in biopharmaceutical or biotech companies.
• Experience working in a dynamic environment related to commercial process development.
• Ability to deliver on commitments and lead cross-functional teams effectively.
