Job Role: Support Worker

The Support Worker will be expected to help and assist the team with day-to-day routines including personal care and feeding.

The Support Worker must have at least 6 months of experience in care and demonstrate compassion.

Support Workers assist with the daily care of patients in various settings such as homes, hospitals, or patients\’ own homes.

They are vital members of teams in hospitals, care homes, and clinics.

Previous experience and/or qualifications in care are essential.

As a Support Worker, you will work under the supervision of nursing staff alongside other Support Workers. Your duties may include:

• Helping patients with washing, showering, or dressing
• Assisting with feeding
• Making and changing beds
• Turning patients to prevent pressure sores
• Talking to patients to reduce anxiety
• Helping patients move around
• Assisting with toileting and collecting bedpans
• Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of the ward or home
• Keeping supplies and equipment organized

Your daily work may involve using mobility aids and assisting with patient transfers. In hospitals, you might escort patients between departments. With experience, you could participate in training new healthcare assistants.
