Kingston Barnes has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer position for one of our clients in Dorset.

The Mechanical Design Engineer is required to improve the quality of the manufacturing process using various quality tools. Full training and development in company and manufacturing systems with excellent starting salary.

They are a market leader within a highly profitable manufacturing industry and are looking forward to another successful year within this marketplace. The business has shown consistent growth and is constantly developing new systems to maintain their competitive advantage in existing markets. The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will receive support and development which will provide you with an excellent opportunity to further yourself and progress your career within a continually expanding business.

The Role:

  • Mechanical design of products and pump assemblies used within multiple pumping applications.
  • Creation and maintenance of accurate GA’s of Bills of Material within EMIR system on time, every time.
  • Manage the Contract Management process.
  • Contract Manage projects from order receipt to delivery to Customer including project planning, cost control and documentation management.
  • Effective project management to ensure projects are delivered on time and on/under budget.
  • Accurate project documentation provided to the Customer on time.
  • Carry out site surveys with detailed reporting to allow team to construct detailed quotation/tenders.
  • Submit all required information for any project sign off.
  • Ensure all project costing, plans and documentation are up to date.
  • Ensure all data recording systems are up to date including drawing/part revision and managing the engineering change process.
  • Provide technical support to the Application Engineers, Regional Sales Managers and Operations Team as and when required.
  • Support the development of the mixer selection program and supportive Bills of Material and GA drawings.
  • Provide assistance and support to the Technical Manager.

The candidate:

  • Mechanical Design background (5 years +).
  • Designed mechanical pump products.
  • Pressure, pipework flange would be useful.
  • Strong working experience of CAD and 3D modelling preferably Solidworks.
  • Minimum HNC or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Recognised time served apprenticeship/training within a mechanical/electrical engineering discipline also fine.
  • Experience with an ERP system, they use EMIR.
  • Manage design projects.
  • Ability to interpret Customer designs and specifications.
