The Job Profile

Simon & Schuster UK is seeking a motivated Adult/Children\’s Commercial Finance Manager for this newly created role within the Commercial Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, the successful candidate will provide strategic financial support, conduct robust analysis, oversee cost control, and offer commercial insights and recommendations to enhance profitability and support business decisions across the Adult Publishing Division.

The Job Role

As the Adult/Children\’s Commercial Finance Manager, you will provide financial insights and support throughout the publishing lifecycle, from acquisition to post-publication analysis.

You will collaborate with Editorial, Sales, Marketing, Publicity, and Production teams to provide commercial guidance, evaluate financial performance, and support strategic initiatives through financial modeling, cost management, and delivering clear, data-driven recommendations.

With support from the Head of Commercial Finance, you will lead monthly divisional meetings and oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to inform decision-making and improve profitability.

The Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 1 year of post-qualification experience in a similar commercial finance or financial reporting role. They should have a strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and business partnering, preferably within publishing or media sectors.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail, deadline management, and a proactive, problem-solving approach are critical.

Experience working with senior stakeholders and providing insightful financial recommendations to drive business performance is highly desirable.
