Alexander Steele is working with a leading food manufacturing business based in Newcastle. Our client is looking for a Controls Engineer to join the business on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will play an integral part of the engineering team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of machinery, processes, or systems across the production facility.

What’s on Offer:

  • Paying circa £57,000
  • 6% company pension

  • 1.25x overtime rate
  • 4 on 4 off (days)

Responsibilities:

  • Electrical skills will include a full diagnostic ability in fault finding of all electrical systems up to and including PLC level, with experience of Siemens S7/Allen Bradley preferred.
  • A full ability to understand electrical diagrams is a necessity.
  • Show a continuous improvement mindset, always seeking to improve plant performance and reliability.
  • Fault finding and programming of robotics including Kuka and Fanuc systems essential.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, safety, and product quality.

Background Experience:

  • Degree in electrical, robotics or related engineering field.
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a food manufacturing or processing environment.
  • Exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with PLC systems and an understanding of automation technology.
  • Preferred experience within using SIEMENS.
  • Strong organisational skills and an exceptional attention to detail.
