Job Description
Environmental specialists in Ealing’s Environmental Protection Team provide a wide range of technical consultancy, environmental regulation, and project management services to improve the quality of the natural and built environment in the borough. We cover air quality, environmental permitting, land contamination, noise and vibration, light pollution, radiation, and drinking water quality.
We are recruiting for a Principal Environmental Protection Officer with extensive knowledge and experience in environmental noise protection to join the team.
You will act as the lead acoustics/noise officer for the delivery of the Council’s statutory and non-statutory functions related to environmental noise from various sources (commercial, industrial, construction). Responsibilities include work on development management/planning consultations, construction and environment management plans (CEMP), S61 prior approvals under CoPA1974 legislation, development of local policies, action plans, and guidance, engaging with stakeholders (GLA, Defra, EA, OPDC, NSIP projects like HS2, Tideway, Heathrow), and leading investigations into noise/vibration breaches, assessments, and surveys, providing technical advice to Enforcement Officers.
You should have previous experience in environmental protection and pollution control, with comprehensive practical and technical knowledge of environmental noise pollution and its health impacts.
An IOA Diploma or equivalent postgraduate qualification is required for this role.
