Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Senior Company Reporting Accountant in our UK Finance team.
An exciting position has become available to join the Sompo UK Reporting team and contribute to the exceptional performance of our business. Reporting directly to the Head of Company Reporting, this role will focus on the production of Financial Statements (UK GAAP) and Solvency II Pillar 3 reporting.

What you’ll be doing:
- Ensure timely delivery and high-quality standards of Solvency II Pillar III reporting deliverables, coordinating with wider Sompo teams including, Technical Accounting, Actuarial, Finance Operations, FP&A, Tax and Group Risk ensuring consistency across all information presented across the business
- Prepare year-end UK GAAP Financial Statements for EWIL
- Lead the production of the SFCR for all entities including managing the SFCR timetable and external audit process.
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise the team and management on impact on regulatory reporting.
- Evaluate current processes and data quality to determine the adequacy of information for Solvency II and IFRS/UK GAAP reporting; implement changes as necessary.
- Support both internal and external audits by providing information on processes and procedures, and addressing queries promptly.
- Maintain and oversee all documentation related to Pillar III processes of Solvency II Reporting for the Company.
- Assist in the calculation of the Solvency Capital Requirement using the Standard Formula.
- Collaborate with the Head of Company Reporting to produce quarterly Executive Reporting, including detailed financial analysis and commentary.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders (including senior management in Actuarial, Finance, Risk, and IT) and external auditors.
- Assist with preparation various regulatory requests, including statistical returns (ABI, FCA, IUA, NAIC, ONS, etc.) for different regulatory bodies.
- Document and maintain adequate controls and procedures.
- Consistently seek ways to improve existing processes and implement best practices.
- Contribute to regulatory reporting and finance projects, including participation in IT and Finance Transformation projects aimed at developing existing processes and enhancing Data Warehouse reporting to support Executives and Regulatory Reporting.
- Undertake ad hoc projects as required.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience of SAP general ledger or equivalent ledger system
- Strong Excel skills
- Good communication skills
- Proven ability to learn quickly
- Forward thinker and somebody with initiative to develop and improve current processes
- Self-starter with good organisational skills and ambition to develop within the Finance department
- Fully qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Previous Solvency II experience required
- Knowledge of SII Assist advantageous
