The role
We are now looking for a bright and motivated Trainee Assistant Underwriter to support the team at Jensten Motor Trade, which is part of the Jensten Group. We are one of the leading providers of specialist, exclusive, and cost-effective insurance products to the Motor trade. Our business is firmly focused on providing a “better service” to our clients, achieved by handling business in-house; we don’t outsource! The UK’s leading insurance companies have provided us with underwriting authority, enabling us to provide an efficient service to all our clients.
Reporting to the Underwriting Team Leader and working within a supportive team, you will be based at our Bexleyheath office on a hybrid basis (following successful completion of the training period).
Key objectives & responsibilities will include:
- Assist with data entry for the existing business Underwriters
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and Insurers as appropriate
- Make calls to staff/Insurers to chase down outstanding items
- Keep procedures, systems, and information documents up to date with relevant information
- Work in line with branch deadlines
- Ensure compliance with local procedures, customer service standards, and external compliance regulations, e.g., FCA
About you
As an Assistant Underwriter, you’ll have excellent communication and written skills with a keen eye for detail. You will also be or have:
- Ideally a background within Insurance, although other industry experience will be considered
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A good level of organisation and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Drive and genuine passion to learn and develop within Insurance
- Able to use initiative and multi-task, updating relevant systems and admin
