We are proud to be partnered with a well-established independent planning consultancy in London, renowned for being first choice for advising the retail sector on planning matters nationwide. The team are currently managing an increasing pipeline of schemes in this space and are seeking a Senior or Associate Town Planner to lead on these projects and ultimately play a key role in revitalising the UK’s high streets and retail landscape. Through existing relationships with the UK’s largest supermarkets, retail and high street chains, you could broaden your network and establish a client base of your own to accelerate your development towards an Associate Director or Director level role. Historically, this well-balanced team have also consulted on major schemes across a variety of other sectors such as; the residential, logistics, leisure, education and heritage sector so you could further diversify your project pipeline and reach should you wish. To succeed in this role, it is essential that you have previous experience conducting retail and sequential impact assessments and prior experience of managing the planning application process of major retail schemes. Your responsibilities will include (depending on level): Manage planning applications through the development process. Write the detail on reports and planning documents or manage juniors in doing so. Meeting clients and liaising with key stakeholders. Appraising potential sites for clients and doing pre-application meetings and work. Keeping up to date with changes in planning policy. Doing business development at the more senior level, and mentoring junior team members. Ideally you will: Experience conducting sequential impact assessments and retail impact assessments. Be MRTPI or equivalent. Have at least three years industry experience, in consultancy, client side or in a local authority. Strong commercial understanding across the wider sector including planning.
