We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Operator/Setter to join one of the UK's most comprehensive manufacturers of precision castings based in Halstead, Essex, to work on their turning section.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating CNC machinery to produce precision components, ensuring that all products meet the required specifications and quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical processes, materials handling, and the ability to work with various tools and equipment.

Duties

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes to perform various machining operations.
  • Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine machine set-up and production methods.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure parts are produced according to specifications.
  • Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy.
  • Work closely with the Inspection team to assure dimensional accuracy of the product.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a CNC Lathe Operator or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in castings.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of logic controllers and CNC Programming, preferably Fanuc controls.
  • Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations related to production tasks.

To begin with, the successful candidate will work a day shift, getting used to the work, the machines, and working with everyone in the machining team. After this initial period (no more than 3 months), the successful candidate will switch onto their shift pattern of 1-week early, 1-week late shifts.
