We seek a highly motivated Chartered Facade Engineer to assist in managing large teams and projects within the Facade engineering group at the Associate Director level, reporting to a Studio Director. You should have experience in designing and managing complex UK and international engineering projects, particularly large-scale ones, with a strong understanding of the UK and international construction industries.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the design phase, financial oversight, and team management, with a minimum of 8 years of industry experience.
  • Good contacts with developers, contractors, and architects are essential.
  • Demonstrating successful project delivery, technical expertise, and leadership skills.

The Role and Responsibilities:

  • Managing large-scale projects efficiently.
  • Leading and resource planning for teams.
  • Maintaining financial control and assessing fee opportunities.
  • Acting as a key technical client interface.
  • Participating in design meetings and communicating ideas through sketches, models, and presentations.
  • Developing designs from concept to construction documentation.
  • Providing holistic design solutions, understanding value engineering, and supporting AKT II’s services.
  • Collaborating across the Group to maximize service delivery opportunities.
  • Evaluating project challenges, mitigating risks, and developing opportunities.
  • Engaging in forums for innovation and company reputation enhancement.
  • Promoting multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Overseeing project management aspects, including scheduling, quality, and technical delivery.
  • Reporting regularly to senior management.
  • Managing performance reviews, attendance, and staff wellbeing.
  • Supporting invoicing forecasts with management.
  • Ensuring effective team communication and compliance with health, safety, and quality policies.
  • Preparing and managing Project Execution Plans and Inception Documents.
  • Representing the company externally and participating in technical reviews.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant degree in Facade Engineering, Architecture, Building Engineering, or Structural Engineering; postgraduate preferred.
  • Chartered membership (e.g., CEng, MCIBSE, MICE, MSFE).
  • Experience managing and delivering major building projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of interdisciplinary interactions in building design.
  • Ability to work closely with architects and construction professionals from concept to completion.
  • Familiarity with UK, US, and international design codes; Eurocodes knowledge advantageous.
  • Proven client, designer, contractor, and builder relationships.
