As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will collaborate with specialists from various engineering disciplines, providing mechanical design expertise to support business opportunities. This includes conducting feasibility studies, developing technology, creating concept designs for new products, and preparing bids and proposals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Generate concept design proposals and feasibility studies to support product development programs.
2. Contribute to product design elements.
3. Support the development of engineering excellence within the business.
4. Provide mechanical engineering expertise for future business opportunities.

Qualifications / Skills Required

• A degree or higher in mechanical engineering.
• Broad knowledge of engineering aspects such as systems, electrical, electro-mechanical, and rotating machinery.
• Experience with manufacturing methods for electrical enclosures, including metal fabrications, castings, welding, machining, and corrosion protection.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably AutoDesk Inventor.
• Good knowledge of materials.
• Familiarity with design lifecycle processes, including gated design phases and reviews.
• Experience designing to strict requirements like shock, EMC, and thermal.
• Strong communication skills and confidence in presenting to customers.

Desirable

• Experience in the Defence/Aerospace or safety-regulated environments.
• Experience in the Naval/Maritime domain.
• Self-driven with good workload management skills under challenging timescales.
• Eagerness to learn and shape future engineering practices.
