Speech and Language Therapist

We are a supportive and friendly Paediatric Integrated Therapy Service looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. The Children’s Therapy service in the North of Hampshire is based over two sites, Aldershot Centre for Health and Adelphi House in Basingstoke. The service is delivered within clinics, homes, nurseries, mainstream and special schools.

This role will cover two out of three clinical areas, schools, early years or complex needs, depending on your areas of clinical interest and experience. Ideally you will have dysphagia training and experience to help manage our caseload of children with eating and drinking needs. The successful candidate will have an allocated caseload of named settings where they will provide assessment, recommendations, and therapy to the children alongside supporting parents and staff. You will be liaising closely with staff to support children’s speech and language needs through the universal, targeted and specialist model. You will also have opportunity to help shape our service and implement different ways of working. The successful candidate will be supported to develop their clinical knowledge and leadership skills., To formulate, evaluate and review individual specialised speech and language therapy management and treatment plans using clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of diagnosis and a wide range of treatment skills appropriate to children and young people with communication difficulties, working at all times in partnership with parents, preschool/school staff, and if appropriate the children themselves., Further information about the Trust and this role can be found on the Job Description and Person Specification document attached. • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree level qualification or equivalent

• Registered member Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists

• Registered member of Health and Care Professions Council

Desirable

• Other relevant training e.g. Makaton, PECS, Hanen etc

• Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills

• Ability to maintain intense concentration for prolonged periods, simultaneously analysing auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of a child’s communication as required on a daily basis as an integral part of assessment and treatment

• Ability to be a good team member and assume leadership responsibilities
