Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Site Manager to oversee biogas facilities across the UK. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in mechanical engineering, preferably with experience in anaerobic digestion, CHP systems, or gas handling infrastructure. This role is critical in ensuring all biogas site works are delivered safely on time, and to the highest quality and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple biogas plant installations, ensuring project timelines and budgets are met.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies, providing regular progress updates to senior management.
  • Attend internal and external project meetings, representing the company and ensuring clear communication of project status, challenges, and deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations related to biogas systems, pressure vessels, and gas-tight installations.
  • Attend and contribute to design and commissioning meetings to align installations with mechanical schematics and biogas process requirements.
  • Lead site safety efforts, including conducting toolbox talks, site inspections, and promoting a culture of safety.
  • Ensure quality control in welding, pipefitting, and pressure-testing for gas containment systems.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Site Manager or similar role, ideally in biogas or energy from waste.
  • A mechanical or engineering background is essential.
  • Familiarity with gas handling systems, CHP engines, pumps, digesters, and pipework relevant to biogas plants.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical assembly in accordance with ATEX, PED, and DSEAR compliance.
  • SMSTS certification required.
  • Willingness to travel to various UK project sites.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working with anaerobic digestion (AD) systems or biogas upgrading technology.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Experience with CE Marking and Achilles UVBD Silver Plus accreditation.

Benefits Package:

  • Salary: Circa £60k
  • Time and a half for hours exceeding 7.5 per day
  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Paid travel time at basic hourly rate
