THE GIG This is a high impact finance role, reporting to the Director of Financial Control & Reporting, leading the delivery of Financial Control for the Group through our Transactional Finance team and working closely with members of the Finance Leadership team (FLT) across all sub-teams. Over the past 9 months, the Transactional Finance team (TFT) have been undergoing significant change as it transitions to a global function. The team needs experienced leadership and support to further embed these changes. As our Head of Global Accounting and Control , you will be responsible for: Ensuring excellent financial control across the Group, overseeing global transactional finance, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations. Fostering strong financial control, instilling a customer service mindset within the team. Collaborating with the Head of Group Reporting to deliver accurate financial reporting and maintain a consistent Group chart of accounts. Coordinating with auditors to ensure a smooth, efficient audit process across UK and regional operations. Leading the UK & EMEA Accounts Payable team, optimising processes for efficiency. Building and developing the TFT by hiring, coaching, and inspiring a high-performing, diverse finance team. Supporting ERP system rollouts, ensuring alignment with Group policies and data integrity. Driving continuous process improvements, maximising value for the Group. Providing technical accounting support, identifying commercial opportunities and preparing accounting papers as needed. Building strong relationships across the business, engaging with senior leaders and aligning the TFT with broader business goals. Acting as a trusted advisor, escalating key issues and providing strategic financial guidance. Promoting business ethics, integrity, cultural effectiveness, and employee engagement. THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART Put simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are: Recognised accountancy qualification, with considerable senior finance leadership experience,including relevant financial control expertise within a publicly listed company. Expertise in Group accounts, IFRS financial statements and technical accounting. Proven leader of change in global transactional finance, balancing efficiency with a people-focused approach. Curious, analytical, and skilled in financial modelling. Strong grasp of best practice financial controls, with process-building experience. Commercially astute, adaptable, and solution oriented. Experienced in team leadership, fostering innovation, collaboration, and engagement. Strong communicator, adept at presenting to senior leadership and Board level. Skilled in managing multiple projects, ensuring accuracy under pressure. Proactive problem solver with critical decision-making skills. Embraces continuous improvement and change.
