We are on the lookout for a PMO Lead to help support the delivery of large-scale digital programmes. This will be a very fast-paced and busy role, developing the PMO tools and resources to adaptably manage a portfolio of transformational projects.
About the Role:
- Implementation and execution of the PMO, by helping establish a clear vision with delivery roadmap including milestones and measures of success/key performance indicators.
- Manage the PMO team and provide support and advice to the project management team to deliver best practice portfolio, programme and project management principles.
- Responsible for managing and tracking the portfolio’s overall performance, providing an ongoing assurance and health-check by assessing whether projects continue to meet overall strategic and project-related objectives.
- Standardising Project Management systems and processes - Creating new/Improving current processes.
- Defining the appropriate standards of governance and ownership of the project/programme delivery lifecycles.
- Developing systems for standardising project KPI’s and prioritisation.
- Provide management reports through a centralised information solution that delivers to the right stakeholders at the right time.
- Plan and schedule resources efficiently, ensuring that the right resources are allocated to the right project at the right time.
- Forecast and enable resource capacity planning, identifying clashes and when priority calls are required.
- Facilitate team collaboration and communication, providing an efficient framework for seamless team collaboration and communication among team members.
- Assess and manage portfolio level risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies.
- Manage, understand and maintain the overall portfolio/programme/project information.
- Analyse and interpret data to provide clear metrics, measures, quality assurance, dashboards to support decision making.
Essential skills required:
- You have experience of running or working in a Portfolio or Project Management Office (PMO) at a senior level.
- You have knowledge of change and delivery frameworks supported by any relevant qualifications such as APM, P30, Prince2 Qualifications.
- You have experience of embedding best practice project and programme management processes and methodologies.
- You are comfortable collating and reviewing highlight reports.
- You have experience of implementing and maintaining a change management framework and supporting tools.
- Strong management and leadership skills and able to drive and lead teams to deliver success.
- Highly developed interpersonal, advocacy and communication skills to work effectively with individuals, teams and senior stakeholders.
- Excellent technical (MS Office 365, Project, Visio, Excel, SharePoint etc.) and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills with an organised and systematic approach and an ability to accommodate a wide and complex range of issues.
- Demonstrated capability for problem-solving, decision-making, sound judgement and assertiveness.
- Flexible and adaptable approach with a focus on delivery to deadlines and high standards.
- Ability to manage and monitor budgets and resources and strong commercial and financial acumen.
- Ability to develop excellent relationships with Project and Programme Managers in the Portfolio Team.
- You have previous experience in maintaining a portfolio or large-scale programme, and making strategic recommendations to decision-makers.
- You have previous Project Management experience.
- You have experience with Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) methodology.
