The role will be based at our offices at 2-4 Cockspur Street, London, SW1Y 5BS, in central London. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. Informal hybrid working arrangements apply, with expectations for regular office attendance. Work pattern and attendance will be agreed with successful candidates.
Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive public information professional to join our multidisciplinary communication team. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, judgment, and writing skills. Reporting to the Communication Manager (Public Relations & Information), you will ensure the SFO publishes accurate, timely information in line with legislation and guidance. You will work collaboratively across the organization, managing relationships internally with senior management, lawyers, and case teams, and externally with FOIA teams across the Civil Service.
The team handles media relations, digital communications, internal communications, and information management. We are looking for a quick learner eager to develop proficiency across all communication areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting and editing responses to FOIA requests and stakeholder correspondence within statutory deadlines, applying exemptions as needed.
- Processing individuals’ rights requests, especially Subject Access Requests, following ICO best practices, and escalating issues appropriately.
- Building and maintaining professional relationships internally and externally.
- Line managing and supporting the development of an Assistant Communication Officer.
- Managing the publication scheme and relevant web content, ensuring information is current and clear.
- Maintaining a strong understanding of FOIA 2000, GDPR, and the Data Protection Act 2018.
