We are seeking to recruit process safety engineers to join our expanding team to be based from our Glasgow office. The successful applicant will have experience in supporting delivery of DSEAR/ATEX hazardous area classification and risk assessments in either industry and/or consultancy setting. The successful candidate(s) will support the delivery of a diverse range of process safety projects for our wide-ranging client base across the following sectors: spirits, food & drink, manufacturing and life sciences, and to progress skills within a growing team which operates across the UK.

You will work as a member of the Process Safety Team within the wider Safety Group and will be involved in all aspects of professional input to process safety consultancy projects and work within a supportive and driven team, contributing to client satisfaction, company performance and sales targets. We are a flexible employer offering hybrid working arrangements. You will be provided with IT equipment and software/services as required to facilitate your efficient home working. The position may require travel (including occasional overnight stays) in Ireland, the U.K. and overseas depending on project requirements. Company pool cars are available for business travel – a full U.K. or ROI driving licence with clean driver record is required as well as a valid passport and photo ID is required for air travel. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.K. and Republic Of Ireland.

Education
  • Honours or Masters’ Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Applicants with a post-graduate MSc in Safety & Risk Management or Safety, Risk & Reliability Engineering will also be considered for the role.
  • Membership (associate or above) of a related professional institute such as the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) or an equivalent body.
Experience & Skills
  • The successful applicant will have experience in supporting delivery of DSEAR/ATEX hazardous area classification and risk assessments.
  • The following skills and experience are desirable:
  • Applying process safety principles within chemical / industrial / high-hazard environments (preferably in a consulting role).
  • Supporting the preparation of COMAH safety reports, hazardous substance consent applications, major accident prevention policies and ALARP justifications.
  • Supporting delivery of process safety studies to include HAZOP and HAZID studies.
  • A broad understanding of current U.K. health, safety and environmental legislation.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong report writing skills and ability to convey complex information in concise technical reports/deliverables.
  • Self-motivation and high levels of initiative.
