Job title STUDENT FINANCE OFFICER School/Function Finance Location All sites within London Campus Responsible to Finance Manager We are recruiting for a Student Finance Officer on a permanent basis. The role will be hybrid and the successful candidate will have ideally have experience working in the Education sector and have experience chasing student debt. Specific duties and responsibilities • Provide accurate and up to date financial guidance to students and potential students regarding student loans. • Support students on their Student Finance application. • Administer the payment of Student Support Funds and keep up to date records of the resulting financial transactions. • Work to resolve any queries students may have with their student loan accounts. • Deal with various SLC change of circumstances. • Prepare attendance report every term for Attendance Officer. • Reconcile all funds distributed and provide management information as requested. Additional duties: n/a Essential Requirements: • Must be able to work flexibly in a team • Experience working in a busy office or experience working in administration • Provide excellent customer care for the department, including advice to internal and external customers Person Specification EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL QUALITIES Essential: • Experience of managing, presenting and maintaining complex data • Significant experience of working with the public in an environment where good customer care is a guiding principle • Experience of liaison with colleagues in various departments and levels across an organisation • Excellent organisational skills and time management • Highly numerate • Ability to supervise staff Experience Desirable: • Experience of working in a student finance related environment • Will need to be able to work under pressure and resilient. • Experience of project work • Wants to pursuit a long-term career in Student Finance. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Essential: • Support the delivery of an efficient and effective administrative, financial systems and procedures for the student financial administration to ensure the accurate, complete and timely processing of applications and payments • Publicise student finance systems and procedures with curriculum and other support staff to ensure correct guidance is given on funding available • Produce regular reports for the management on the distribution and effectiveness of funds and to advice on development and resource needs • Ensure the smooth running of the student finances within the best practice of customer care Desirable: • Experience in the Education sector • Experience chasing student debt Working hours EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Essential: • Must have at least 5 GCSE’s including Maths & English
