Direct Payment Worker

This is an external vacancy and is not employment with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

A lady in her 20s requires a support worker for 10 hours per week. This lady works mainly evenings and alternate weekends; her support hours are to be scheduled around her shifts, so flexibility is required. She is a keen football fan and enjoys watching football. Like many autistic people, she is totally fixated on football and will talk about it all day. She also enjoys doing diamond painting and colouring. She doesn\’t go out anywhere except to work, her parents\’ home, or shopping with her mum.

The support involves assistance with budgeting and finance to help her pay bills, save money, make sensible shopping choices, and plan ahead. Home-related support includes meal planning, shopping, cooking, and following recipes. She needs prompts to change bedding, do laundry regularly, and put clothes away. Support is also required for cleaning routines to help her maintain a routine, understand what needs to be done and when. Additionally, support with medication includes reminders and assistance with ordering medication on time.

Experience working with autism and ADHD is preferred but not essential.

The Direct Payments Support Service is an in-house service provided by East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The service promotes independent choice and inclusion, allowing service users to employ their own care and support as needed. We support individuals with varying abilities, assisting with advertising and recruitment for roles such as support workers, carers, and personal assistants.

Travel

Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required. Applicants must be able to transport themselves.
