Head of Legal

Head of Legal Location: Brighton (2 days per week in the office, 3 days working from home) Department: Finance Reports to: Chief Financial Officer Direct reports: Legal Counsel Position type: Full time, Permanent MPB is seeking a Head of Legal to lead its global legal function from our Brighton HQ. This strategic role provides both day-to-day legal support and high-level guidance to enable sustainable growth. The successful candidate will balance commercial pragmatism with legal compliance, navigating risks, regulations, and opportunities. Reporting to the CFO, you will lead a developing legal team, including a newly qualified legal counsel, and will be responsible for establishing legal frameworks that support our expanding international operations across the UK, US, and EU. Your focus will include data protection, consumer law, employment law, commercial contracts, corporate governance, and M&A activities. What You Will Be Doing: Advising the Executive Team and Board on strategic legal issues Leading the legal function, including direct management and mentoring of Legal Counsel Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts Ensuring legal compliance across all jurisdictions, with a focus on data protection, consumer law, and employment Managing external counsel relationships and budgets Developing and embedding scalable workflows to manage legal tasks efficiently Promoting a culture of compliance and risk awareness through training and internal communications Who We Are Looking For: You are a pragmatic and commercially minded lawyer with a solutions-first approach. You thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy cross-functional collaboration, and can translate complex legal issues into accessible, actionable advice for our global stakeholders.
