We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a child in KS1 with cerebral palsy on Thursdays and Fridays.
Understanding Cerebral Palsy:
Cerebral palsy is a group of lifelong conditions affecting movement and coordination, with effects varying widely. It can impact muscle tone, movement, posture, balance, and coordination. Some children may also have learning difficulties, communication challenges, or sensory impairments. Understanding the individual needs of the child will be key. Commitment and consistent attendance are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Support with physio exercises.
- Implement differentiated learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.
- Assist with personal care needs with dignity and sensitivity.
- Support physical needs, including mobility, positioning, and equipment use.
- Create a positive, inclusive learning environment where the child feels safe and valued.
- Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to staff.
- Support emotional well-being and self-confidence.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies.
Candidate Requirements:
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly physical disabilities.
- Good understanding of cerebral palsy (training will be provided).
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with children, staff, and parents.
