Associate Director Fire Engineer

The Keegans Group is seeking an Associate Director Fire Engineer within the Compliance and Safety Team. This role provides fire safety support, advice, and assists in delivering appropriate fire safety guidance.

This position reports to the Director of Compliance and Safety and involves collaboration with other members of the C&S Division.

This is a full-time/permanent role , preferably based in London , but applications from nationwide are welcome.

Responsibilities:

• Attend and support project meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders, providing fire safety guidance and recommendations.
• Review design information such as drawings, reports, and specifications; provide fire safety comments and advice; prepare technical reports and guidance notes impacting projects and clients.
• Research fire safety implications of new technologies, materials, approaches, and regulations, offering support and guidance based on findings.
• Conduct and assist with qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, presenting findings to stakeholders for informed decision-making.
• Build and maintain a trusted internal network within the organization.
• Generate fire safety strategy reports for new and existing buildings.
• Review external wall assessments in accordance with PAS 9980 guidance.
• Help update internal best practices and guidance documents; assist in proposals for design or research services.
• Prepare technical guidance notes on Fire Safety; present at knowledge-sharing sessions or CPD events.
• Manage project records using the Deltek system, including fee management and forecasting; prepare and issue invoices.
• Ensure contracts are in place with clients and subconsultants.
• Lead and develop a team of Senior and Fire Engineers, including conducting reviews, appraisals, and one-on-one meetings.
• Lead weekly team meetings, managing resources and recruitment needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree/Master’s in construction or engineering (e.g., Surveying, Fire Safety Engineering).
• Membership with RICS, CABE, IFE/IFSM.
• Significant experience in fire engineering or related fields, preferably including façade fire engineering.
• Proficiency with BIM, AutoCAD, or similar tools for design and review.
• Experience with CFD modelling, probabilistic/reliability analysis, using FDS or similar tools.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks like Building Regulations, Fire Safety Act, Building Safety Act, BS 9991, and 9999.
• Ability to manage workload and deadlines independently.
• Support the Director of Safety and Compliance as needed.
• Aiming for Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the Engineering Council and IFE.
