The Keegans Group is seeking an Associate Director Fire Engineer within the Compliance and Safety Team. The role involves providing fire safety support, advice, and assisting in delivering appropriate fire safety strategies. This position reports to the Director of Compliance and Safety and involves collaboration with other members of the C&S Division. This is a full-time, permanent role, preferably based in London, but applications from nationwide are welcome.
Responsibilities:
- Attend and support project meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders, providing fire safety guidance and recommendations.
- Review design information such as drawings, reports, and specifications; provide fire safety comments and advice; prepare technical reports and guidance notes.
- Research fire safety implications of new technologies, materials, and regulations; support and guide based on research findings.
- Conduct and assist in qualitative and quantitative risk assessments; present findings to stakeholders for informed decision-making.
- Build and maintain a trusted internal network across the organization.
- Generate fire safety strategy reports for new and existing buildings.
- Review external wall designs in accordance with PAS 9980 guidance.
- Update and maintain internal best practice guidance and documentation; assist in proposals for design or research services.
- Prepare technical guidance notes on fire safety; present at knowledge sessions or CPD events.
- Manage project records using Deltek; handle fee management and invoicing.
- Ensure contracts are in place with clients and subconsultants.
- Manage and develop a team of Senior and Fire Engineers, including performance reviews and one-on-one meetings.
- Lead weekly team meetings, resource planning, and recruitment needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant Degree/Master’s in construction or engineering (e.g., Surveying, Fire Safety Engineering).
- Professional Membership with RICS, CABE, or IFE/IFSM.
- Significant experience in fire engineering or related roles, with desirable experience in façade fire engineering.
- Experience with BIM, AutoCAD, or similar design review tools.
- Proficiency in CFD modeling, probabilistic/reliability analysis; experience with FDS or similar software.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including Building Regulations, Fire Safety Act, Building Safety Act, BS 9991/9999.
- Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
- Support the Director of Safety and Compliance where applicable.
- Aspiring to Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the Engineering Council via IFE.
