PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A NATIONAL ROLE
The Civils Operative will be required to perform excavations, repairs, re-reinstatements, installation of ducting, chambers, street cabinets, and the installation of draw ropes on telecom infrastructure located within the public highway and customers' premises, using up-to-date client standard operating procedures and in full compliance with current legislation, health and safety requirements, and company policies.
Responsibilities and duties
- Drive and operate a 7.5t Tipper (where required)
- Provide new installation of duct, chambers, and cabinets, and associated customer connections
- Clear blockages in the highway and reinstate to industry standards, ensuring all information and photos are captured on company supplied assets (e.g., phone or tablet)
- Be competent in the use of Stihl Saws, Wacker plates, trench compactors, jack hammers, and hold the correct certification to complete the works. Competency to use a mini digger would be an advantage.
- Install new draw ropes to the customer's connection point following installation of duct works and boxes
- Complete appropriate paperwork for daily works, including job sheets, risk assessments, plant sheets, and van sheets
- Experience in risk assessment and hazard identification with a strong focus on health and safety responsibilities
- Be responsible for the company assets and plant assigned to you
- Treat internal and external customers with respect and provide support at all times
- Ensure compliance with all current client processes and procedures
- Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external clients
Requirements
- Hold a 7.5t Tipper license (where required)
- Experience in a similar operational or engineering environment within the telecommunications industry is advantageous
- Proven confident skills in street works and industry-recognized qualifications
- Hold a full UK driver's license
- Hold the following qualifications: NRSWA, CSCS or equivalent, CPCS
- Be in good physical health
