A 16-year-old boy residing in Withernsea is seeking a support worker to assist him in accessing community activities. The young person enjoys outdoor activities, adventures, and rock climbing.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Encouraging the young person to participate in activities.
- Supporting the development of social skills.
- Ensuring safety in the community.
- Transporting the individual to social activities and appointments.
- Promoting social interaction, inclusion, and providing emotional support.
The suitable candidate must:
- Be patient, caring, and understanding.
- Build a positive relationship with the young person to encourage and support them.
- Be flexible to meet the needs of the family.
- Have knowledge of working with or supporting a child with additional needs.
Children and Young People, Specialist Services Direct Payments is an in-house service provided by East Riding of Yorkshire Council to support families of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in fulfilling their potential and aspirations.
Experience in caring is beneficial but not essential; a positive attitude and a person-centred approach are more important.
Travel
Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required. Applicants must be able to transport themselves.
