Plant Operative

Overview

The purpose of the role will be to support and assist the Shift Supervisor in the production of silver from waste products. To be able to multi-task and carry out every aspect of the process from incineration through to cupellation.

• Work closely with your Supervisor to ensure each shift runs smoothly.
• Support the continual improvement for the business.
• Help deliver new ideas and strategies to support growth.
• Work closely with the other site production teams.
• Help support the SHE Manager build a better H&S culture.

Job Purpose and Responsibilities

• Train and become competent in all aspects of production (Blast Furnace, Cupel, Rotary).
• Assist in all aspects of production as required by your Supervisor.
• Perform general housekeeping duties.
• Ensure the most effective and efficient running of all relevant plant.
• Liaise with Supervisor and other Managers when required.
• Be a site First Aider.
• Ensure environmental and permit standards are adhered to at all times.
• Report accidents & near misses.
• Ensure health & safety procedures are adhered to and correct RPE/PPE is worn at all times.
• Be willing to be a H&S representative & site champion.

Qualifications

• Previous foundry experience advantageous.
• Some knowledge/experience of working with molten metal.
• Health & Safety conscious and willing to champion H&S on the shop floor.
• FLT Certificate advantageous.
• The ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.
• The ability to ‘think on your feet’ and use initiative.
• A “can do” attitude.
• Able to work in a fast-paced production-led environment.
• Flexible and reliable.
• Willingness to train on multiple pieces of plant.
