Job Purpose: We have an exciting opportunity primarily for a DBA to join our growing business systems team whilst getting involved in system design and support for our MES/ERP systems. The role would see you owning the multiple application databases ensuring that the maintenance, performance, integrity, and security are of a high standard and actively improving in these areas.
Duties: The position will have a number of key responsibilities including (but not limited to):
- Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.
- Minimise database downtime and manage parameters to provide faster query responses.
- Provide proactive and reactive data management support to both the business systems team and IT services department.
- Implementation and creation of stored procedure to assist in the integration of 3rd party data.
- Provide 2nd Line Support for issues relating to database queries including the creation & maintenance of SSRS reports.
- Troubleshoot everyday SQL database related issues.
- Working with various business stakeholders to ensure the integrity and security of the data.
- Adhoc development for system & process improvement initiatives to support our systems.
- Provide 2nd Line Support for MES/ERP business system applications/integrations utilising the service desk portal to ensure that SLAs are adhered to.
- Submission / following of change control processes to ensure downtime windows are agreed with key business representatives and minimal impact to business is achieved.
What it takes:
Essential:
- 3rd level Qualification in an IT or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years work experience as a DBA.
- In-depth working knowledge of the SQL – data backup, recovery, security, integrity & replication.
- Use of SQL database optimization tools.
- Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
- Ability to deal with multiple stakeholders across a large business.
- Ability to work independently whilst putting forward change requests and deployment changes within agreed downtime windows if required.
- Ability to perform well in pressured and stressful situations.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with API.
- Working knowledge of SSRS and complex store query writing to aid reports.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Microsoft Certified in SQL server database administration.
- Microsoft Certified in Performance Tuning and Optimizing SQL Databases.
- Experience in MES systems such as SI or Innova.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Azure Data Engineer Associate.
